Where Has the Love Gone?

“For all the love I used to share — where has the love gone? Have you lost that loving feeling?”

Sometimes, we forget what truly matters — especially in relationships we once dedicated to God.
We start out filled with affection and faith, but somewhere along the way, we lose focus and begin chasing things that do not last.

The Eternal Baggage of Love

When life ends, the only thing we carry beyond this world is spiritual — and that is love.
Love is eternal because “God is love” (1 John 4:8). The memories of how we loved and forgave others become the treasures that follow us into eternity.

No riches, property, or possessions can come with us. “For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.” (1 Timothy 6:7)

So why do so many focus on what’s dead — things that perish, fade, or rust? (Matthew 6:19–21)
Jesus said, “Let the dead bury their own dead” (Luke 9:60), reminding us not to live for things that are lifeless but to walk in the Spirit, where life truly is.

Living Before Dying

We shouldn’t wait until our last breath to start loving. Every day is a divine opportunity to show kindness, forgiveness, and care.
If we believe in the Lord, our souls will live forever (John 11:25–26). That understanding should fill our hearts with hope and discernment — God’s wisdom at work in us.

People Over Possessions

Material things are dead; they should never take priority over what is alive — people.
We often forget how blessed we already are. While we complain about small inconveniences, others sleep in boxes. How can God be pleased when we ignore this truth?

Jesus said, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40)

Let’s focus on what is lovely and good (Philippians 4:8). Look at the beauty around us — the trees, flowers, gardens, and homes — all gifts from God.
Yet, even these fade if our hearts are not right.

Perfection in Imperfection

In my own home, I see beauty — not just in how it looks but in the care my wife gives to it.
But let us not let small irritations or imperfections destroy peace. Life’s little inconveniences are temporary; God’s blessings are eternal.

As Paul wrote, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
Even in our imperfections, God’s perfection shines brighter.

Flexibility and Faith

God calls us to be like water and spirit (John 3:5). The coconut tree bends with the wind and does not break — so must we be flexible in love and patience.
A rigid heart cannot love fully. A flexible heart moves with compassion and understanding.

True Beauty

The beauty of one’s surroundings means nothing if the heart is ugly.
You can decorate your home, but if pride, anger, or bitterness dwell within, it’s still darkness.
Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for this very thing: “You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.” (Matthew 23:25)

I do not claim to know everything — in truth, I know little. It took me almost fifty years to realize how generous God has been to me.
I am nobody, but I am someone who desires change. I would rather be humble and teachable than proud and condemned.

The Heart of It All

There is no reward in maintaining a polished outside while the inside rots.
If the devil dwells in your heart, beauty fades.
But when Jesus lives there — forgiveness, peace, and love make everything glow again.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10

Yes, Jesus forgives — but He also calls us to repentance. He loves us too much to let us stay the same.— where has the love gone? Have you lost that loving feeling?”
