The Recipe of Culture and the Light of God
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
— Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)🪔 The Foundation of Who We Are
The history of our culture defines each of us.
It forms the foundation of who we are — the ingredients that shape our very being.
Like a recipe, what we put in determines what comes out.
“For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” — Galatians 6:7
Just as a good dish requires harmony between its ingredients, so does the human soul require harmony between its values, its faith, and its upbringing.
Our environment, our families, and our culture influence who we become.
We often mirror our parents, our teachers, and our surroundings — sometimes for good, sometimes for harm.
⚖️ When “Me Rule” Replaces God’s Rule
In the beginning, God gave humanity dominion over the earth (Genesis 1:26–28).
But over time, divine rule has turned into “Me rule.”
We live for ourselves rather than for the glory of God.
Many have thrown His commandments out the window, just as the people of Sodom and Gomorrah did. They ignored His truth, failed to teach their children righteousness, and their cities perished (Genesis 19:24–25).
⚠️ Let us not repeat their mistake.
👨👩👧 Teaching Truth to the Next Generation
If we want a righteous future, we must begin today — in our homes, in our hearts, and within our families.
Our children become what we teach them to be.
If we teach them vanity, they will chase it.
If we teach them godliness, they will live it.
“These words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children.”
— Deuteronomy 6:6–7
Learning is natural — but what we learn determines our destiny.
When we absorb the wrong lessons, we drift away from God’s light. When we absorb His truth, we walk in eternal purpose.
🌅 Awakening to Our True Destiny
We are not destined to perish — we are destined to live eternally.
But eternity has two sides: one with God, and one apart from Him.
The choice is ours.
“Enter ye in at the strait gate… for narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life.”
— Matthew 7:13–14
Even heaven must be clean. Like a master gardener separating the weeds from the wheat (Matthew 13:30), God will one day separate the righteous from the wicked.
You might say that in heaven, there is no room for trash — only treasure.
Which will you be?
🔥 Passing the Light Forward
Our identity, our culture, and our choices define us.
If we desire to reach the same heavenly destination, we must walk the same road — the one that leads to Christ.
When we teach our young, let us remind them constantly that “Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6)
The saints of old passed down their light through faith and example — now it is our turn.
💬 “By their fruits ye shall know them.” — Matthew 7:16
Good individuals build good families.
Good families build good societies.
And a good society is one where God is first — and not the self.
🌿 Final Reflection
Let us be cultivators of a godly culture —
a recipe seasoned with truth, faith, and love.
If we do, our legacy will not fade,
but flourish into eternity.
