Thanksgiving — A Prayer of Humility and Gratitude

Lord, thank You for today!
I know I don’t deserve all that You have given me.
Your grace is truly amazing — overflowing, unearned, and bountiful.

In the mornings of every world, You reveal Your greatness.
Yet how many of us truly stop to acknowledge You through Your works?
Each day You try to remind me of what is truly important —
but I, too often, get lost in my routines and leave no time for You.

You keep repeating Your messages to me, and I do hear them,
but somehow, I fail to keep them in my heart.

You told me to seek You first and Your kingdom,
yet I find myself seeking everything else before You.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness,
and all these things shall be added unto you.” — Matthew 6:33

You told me to trust You in everything,
yet doubt so often fills my mind.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5

You told me to be rich in kindness and slow to anger,
yet I find myself poor in kindness and quick to anger.

“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.” — Psalm 103:8

You told me not to judge, yet I have condemned.

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged.” — Matthew 7:1

You told me to repent, yet I missed the turn.

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out.” — Acts 3:19

You told me to forgive, yet I often hold on to hate.

“Forgive, and you will be forgiven.” — Luke 6:37

You told me to be grateful, yet I fail to see the beauty of the present.

“Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18

You told me that if I believe in You, I shall receive life everlasting.

“Whoever believes in Me shall not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16

You showed me how to be patient, and You told me to wait,
yet I remain restless and anxious.

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.” — Psalm 37:7

The devil visits me in many forms —
through pressure, distraction, and discouragement —
and sometimes his power seems to overwhelm me.

But Lord, You also said:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” — Matthew 7:7

So here I am —
asking, seeking, knocking.
Not because I am worthy,
but because I believe in Your mercy,
and I trust that You will open the door.

Thank You, Lord, for never giving up on me.
Even when I fail, You remain faithful.
Even when I wander, You call me home.

Today, I thank You —
for Your grace, Your patience, and Your everlasting love.
