Shit Happens (And It Doesn’t Mean You Failed)

Shit Happens (And It Doesn’t Mean You Failed)

There are moments in life when everything seems to unravel at once.

Plans fall apart.
Prayers feel unanswered.
Effort doesn’t equal outcome.

And in those moments, the quiet question creeps in:

“What did I do wrong?”

We’ve been conditioned to believe that when things go wrong, it must be our fault. That struggle is evidence of failure. That if we were doing life “right,” things would be smoother, cleaner, more predictable.

But life doesn’t work that way.

Sometimes, shit happens — not because you failed, but because you’re alive.

When Life Gets Messy, We Blame Ourselves

There’s a subtle cruelty in how we treat ourselves during hard seasons.

We replay decisions.
We second-guess paths.
We assume pain means we missed God somewhere along the way.

But Scripture never promised a trouble-free life.
What it promises is presence, growth, and purpose — even in the mess.

Growth is rarely neat.
Healing is rarely linear.
Faith is rarely proven in comfort.

The Mess Is Not the Message of Defeat

Think about it.

Seeds grow underground in darkness.
Muscles strengthen through resistance.
Character is forged under pressure.

So why do we expect our inner lives to develop without friction?

Hard seasons don’t cancel your calling.
Confusion doesn’t mean abandonment.
Delay doesn’t mean denial.

Often, what feels like breakdown is actually transition.

Faith Doesn’t Remove the Mess — It Reframes It

Faith isn’t pretending things don’t hurt.
It’s refusing to believe that pain is meaningless.

God doesn’t waste seasons.
He doesn’t abandon us to chaos.
He walks with us through it.

Even Jesus reminded His followers that peace doesn’t come from the absence of trouble — but from trust in the midst of it.

If You’re in a Hard Season Right Now

Let this be your reminder:

  • You’re not broken
  • You’re not behind
  • You’re not forgotten

You’re human.
You’re growing.
And you’re still being guided — even if the path feels unclear.

Sometimes, the mess is the message.
Sometimes, the struggle is the shaping.
And sometimes… shit happens — and that’s not the end of your story.

Closing Thought

You don’t need to have it all figured out to be on the right path.

Sometimes, being alive — fully, imperfectly, honestly alive — is already enough.
