🌿 Is Jesus at Home in Your Heart? Are We a Friend of God?

Give yourself an applause — you’ve chosen again to spend time talking about the Lord!
Jesus must surely be smiling that we are doing this in addition to our Sunday and daily Masses.

This is the work of our faith, and I truly believe that our willingness to spend time with God will not go unrewarded.
If we believe in Jesus, then we must also believe what He says:

Matthew 28:20 (NIV)
“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Jesus spoke of the end of the age. It is real — and it’s only a matter of time before it comes.
So we must ask ourselves:
Is Jesus truly living in our hearts and minds when that day comes? Are we His friend?

If He is not, how can we expect to be ready to meet Him?

🕯️ The Parable of the Ten Virgins — Matthew 25:1–13

Jesus described the Kingdom of Heaven as being like ten virgins who took their lamps to meet the bridegroom.
Five were wise, and five were foolish. The foolish ones brought no extra oil, while the wise came prepared.

When the bridegroom finally arrived, only the wise virgins — the prepared ones — were welcomed into the wedding banquet.
The door was shut to the rest.
And the Lord said:

“Truly I tell you, I don’t know you. Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.”

🌾 The Parable of the Sower

Jesus also taught us through the parable of the seed and the sower.
He calls us to be like the seeds that fell on good soil, bearing fruit in abundance — faithful lives that glorify God.

đź“– Measuring Our Spiritual Growth

How can we know if we’re growing spiritually?
Would it help to become more mindful of how we live our daily lives — to check whether our actions reflect the presence of God within us?

We can hear and read Scripture, but if we do not live it, it is wasted.
Let us therefore put our learning into practice — to be doers of the Word, not hearers only.

“Be slow to anger, rich in kindness, steadfast in faith.”

These are not just lessons to be admired — they are habits to be lived.

✍️ A Spiritual Practice

Here’s a simple challenge:
Start taking notes about your daily walk.
Keep God visible throughout your day.
If you feel you’re lacking patience, kindness, or peace — pray for more grace.
Through faith, God provides all we need to grow spiritually.

Let’s strive to be in “church” spiritually every second of the day — by carrying Jesus in our hearts.
This isn’t easy, but it’s the only way to truly live as His friend.

🕊️ Closing Reflection

If we do this faithfully, our spiritual growth will blossom.
And when our journey on earth ends, Jesus will not be a stranger to us —
He will welcome us as friends and say:

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Having Jesus live in our hearts every second of every day makes us permanent residents in His eternal mansion.

So, let’s ask again —
Do we have the zeal and courage to truly live with God in our hearts every second of every day?

Yes? Then let’s begin today.

đź’ Reflection Question

How can I make more room for Jesus in my heart today?
What “oil” of faith, love, or forgiveness do I need to refill in order to keep my spiritual lamp burning?

🙏 Closing Prayer

Lord Jesus,
Come and dwell in my heart.
Fill me with Your Spirit so that I may walk in Your ways and bear good fruit for Your Kingdom.
Teach me to be watchful, patient, and full of faith like the wise virgins who awaited the Bridegroom.
Let my heart be Your home, and may my life reflect Your love to others each day.
Amen.
